From Mary's blessed Heart there flowed
the first bright streams of saving grace:
faith unwavering, consent most meek,
the holy fountain of mankind's renewal.
Before the mystery of the Incarnate Word,
she stood in silence and in light;
believing what heaven revealed,
consenting to what God ordained.
O wondrous faith! O sacred "Yes!"
by which the ages were restored;
for through her lowly, loving assent
the Hope of nations entered time.
By the spotless purity of her Heart,
by the beauty of her inward holiness,
she drew the Only-Begotten Son
into the tabernacle of her womb.
There the Eternal took our flesh,
there the Creator became our Brother,
there the Redeemer was conceived,
for the healing of a fallen world.
Hail, Heart most pure, Heart full of grace,
chosen dwelling of the Lord Most High;
through thy faith and holy obedience
salvation dawned upon the earth.
All praise to Christ, our Sovereign Restorer,
whom thou didst bear beneath thy heart;
and praise to the Father and Holy Spirit,
one God, adored through endless ages. Amen.
