Sun on stone and coal aglow,
Hear the anvil start to know.
Swing the arm and set the seam,
Day begins with fire and steam.
Hey—strike it true, strike it clean,
What we make is what we mean.
From bent iron to shining form,
We greet the day—hammer and morn!
Sparks may fly and sweat may fall,
Laugh it off, we’ve seen it all.
Break, then mend, and start once more,
That’s what every sunrise’s for.
Hey—lift it high, pass the song,
Work feels light when hearts are strong.
By dusk we’ll stand, proud and worn—
Here’s to the day: hammer and morn!
