*PLSAMS 140*
_Intro_
Rescue me, oh Lord
From the tongues that cut like sword
Keep me safe, keep me sure
When the night feels like war
_Verse 1_
I walked in quiet, but they plotted loud
Smiles in my face, daggers in the crowd
Whisper in the shadows, twist my name
Light a fire and then point the flame
They set traps for my feet to fall
Dig pits with words behind the wall
But I know, I know, I know
You see what they donโt show
_Pre-Chorus_
Evil men sharpen words like knives
Poison sitting under their lies
But I lift my hands, I lift my eyes
To the One who hears when my spirit cries
_Chorus_
Iโm calling on You
When the wicked surround, be my breakthrough
Donโt let their plans stand, donโt let them prevail
Hide me in Your shadow when their arrows sail
Youโre my defender
In the court of chaos, You remember
The poor, the crushed, the ones thrown down
You lift them up, You wear the crown
_Verse 2_
Donโt grant them their desires, Lord
Donโt let them gather, donโt hand them the sword
Let their own mischief return to their head
Let burning coals rain where they tread
Iโve been tired, Iโve been framed
But Your justice donโt forget a name
The upright will see Your face
The broken will find their place
_Bridge โ Declaration_
I know the Lord secures justice
For the poor, for the ones they touch less
The needy got an advocate
Heavenโs court donโt adjourn, donโt forget
So let them scheme, let them plot
But my God is a fire theyโre not
He covers my head in the day of battle
When lies sound loud like stampeding cattle
_Final Chorus_
Iโm calling on You
When the wicked surround, be my breakthrough
Donโt let their plans stand, donโt let them prevail
Hide me in Your shadow when their arrows sail
Youโre my defender
In the court of chaos, You remember
Surely the righteous praise Your name
