Out on the streets chasing the glow, the instant reward is what traps you
you run after a light that doesn’t last even a single moment
you think what shines is what has worth, but it’s fire that burns and leaves no trace
full of pride and empty inside, eyes fixed only on what’s outside
arrogant to the core, as if the whole universe revolves around you
Ha ha ha! What a comedy so poorly written and even worse performed
you dress yourself up as something great, act like a god and absolute master
but you fail to realize that pride itself is the chain that nails you to the ground
you live in a world of rush, noise, and absurd competition
where everyone wants to stand tallest, be the richest, be the most admired
yet that speed only speeds up your own fall
the faster you run, the less you see what truly matters
the ego is a brutal game, an enemy you carry inside yourself
it makes you believe you’re untouchable, one of a kind, invincible
What a lie so well rehearsed!
Addicted to gold, to fleeting pleasure, to glory that lasts just a moment
they forget those things are only on loan, dust the wind carries away in one breath
you climb to the top with fists raised shouting “I made it!”
but when you look within you find nothing but loneliness and total emptiness
material things are not victories nor proof of any real worth
they are just objects that rust, get lost, change hands without warning
so let go of that weight you carry on your shoulders
take off that mask of greatness you can barely hold up
true power isn’t found in what you own or what people say about you
it lives in who you are when no one is watching, in what you keep standing even when everything falls apart
the wise men of old said it, and Stoic truth confirms it:
humility is not weakness, nor bowing your head to anyone
it’s the only strength that lets you see what is truly real and lasting
while the ego blinds you, fills you with rage, envy, and endless discontent
always wanting more, yet never feeling satisfied
